CfH announces NHS-wide procurement of encryption tool

NHS Connecting for Health (CfH) has announced the national
procurement of encryption and authentication software to protect
computers, devices and data throughout the NHS in England.
CfH has selected the McAfee product SafeBoot, provided by Trustmarque
Solutions. The product is an enterprise class solution which integrates
with existing software deployment tools and can be deployed in both
standalone and organisation-wide scenarios.
It is designed to protect devices, such as PCs, laptops, PDAs,
smartphones, etc; content on hard drives and removable media such as
CDs, DVDs and flashdrives; and computer ports to prevent unauthorised
use of portable media connected to USB, serial, parallel etc ports.
The process for obtaining software and licenses has now been agreed
and the solution is now available to the NHS. It is being deployed by
trusts and health informatics service groups throughout their estates.
Only individuals nominated by strategic health authorities can
request licences for their organisations. For more information see:
